More on the UCLA taser incident
Looks like Michelle Malkin has been covering the incident. One of her readers who identifies himself as a police officer and trainer suggests that the problem with the UCPD's actions is that they were trying to be too PC. Interesting. John Hawkins has some helpful hints from Chris Rock.

Hey:
Can you post a link on your blog to this online petition to ban the use of taser guns by UCPD + have a transparent and independent investigation of the UCLA tasering? Here's the link: To read and sign petition, go to: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/stoptasersUCPD/ On Tuesday, Nov. 11, several UCPD officers arrested, handcuffed, and repeatedly electrocuted a UCLA student with a taser gun in a UCLA library because he did not show police officers his UCLA ID card and refused to leave the library. For a video of the incident, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3CdNgoC0cE The incident shocked those who witnessed the abuse (as can be clearly seen in the video) and those who have seen the video. What happened to this student clearly shows how taser guns lend themselves to police abuse. Taser guns are dangerous and cruel. Up until this day, over 189 people in the US have died as a result of being shot with a taser gun. In addition, taser guns cause great pain and muscular paralysis on those shot. Imagine if UC police stopped and tasered every student who forgot to carry around their UC id! If you are outraged about this incident and would like to do something to improve our UC communities, you can start by signing this petition addressed to UC President Robert Dynes, the UC Regents, and the UC chancellors asking the university administration to do the following: 1. Permanently ban the use of taser guns by the University of California Police Department. 2. Form an independent review board that will investigate the tasering of UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad at Powell Library on Tuesday, November 14, 2006. 3. This independent review board should also review and recommend changes to policies regarding verification of student status by UCPD officers. 4. Consider setting independent review boards in every UC campus with the assigned role of independently investigating serious allegations of police abuse. 5. Extend a formal apology to UCLA student Mostafa Tabatabainejad for the physical and emotional harm done to him that evening. Please join us in supporting these demands by: 1) Signing the online petition. Again, to read and sign petition, go to: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/stoptasersUCPD/ 2) Forwarding this email to as many people in the UC community as you can. Thank you for joining our call. Together, we can make our UC campuses safer and more peaceful communties.
I saw the whole video, and frankly, I think you need to get ure head out of the place where the sun doesn't shine and wake up. The police were taking full advantage of the fact that he was partially incapacitated. I have a buddy who works for the pd and he said that even in partial stun mode, a stun gun can incapacitate the lower extremities, which is where this poor fellow was hit. I also have a friend of mine who was an RA, and in this situation, the student has the right to sue b/c he was un fairly torchered. I think you like seeing torchered victims, seeing as how you loved what happened at abu ghraib. Have you ever heard of the hands off policy. Only if the student is reaching for his pockets or making any sudden moves, does police need to hand cuff and arrest him. He was hit five times, while hand cuffed. I also find it interesting that he was forced to get up while being hit with the taser. So in other words, you are supposed to maintain a full body posture while being hit with electricity. I find that very appalling. I also find it reprehensible that you are bringing up his race to make a point. Considering your political beliefs, this does not surprise me. I am assuming that you feel if this person is middle eastern, as you racist conservative republicans feel, torch the poor bastard. Well I got news for you, why don't you try getting hit with a taser and you see how you feel. The guy repeatedly said, I'll leave. He was an employee to begin with, a cso, without a badge. Granted, the police were going to escort him out, but they could have done that in an orderly fashion. They used excessive force period. He was middle eastern, and since he is of that ethnic background, you think its okay. Well i wonder, what if the guy was chinese, or white, do u think u would be outraged. I think you would be. However, since he is middle eastern, you think he's prolly a terrorist or worse. You care more about your own kind b/c well you are a racist chinese individual.
Hey Anonymous,
Post a Comment
Can you read? Did you read the post where I said I don't care if he's Chinese, white or whatever, that I would STILL think he deserved it. Hell, if I acted in such a ridiculous manner, I would deserve to be tased. I think you should learn to read before you go around posting stupid comments that have already been addressed. And please do not post anonymously unless you are some kind of pussy who can't stand behind your words. (c) 2001-2006 transcended.net - all rights reserved |
